Anyway when I was 17 (so like I said, literally 23 years ago) I bottle raised a Rottweiler puppy, and I knew I couldn't keep him bc I was moving out soon and I already had a big dog.
My aunt asked for him, and even tho she was (and is) a shitty person* I thought it would be good to keep him in the family so I could check-in.
Aunt told us to "come take this dog" like four hours later.
So then Ken, my father, said that he wanted to give the puppy to one of his co-workers (they were nurses) who had a kid, but for some reason that I cannot explain in retrospect, that idea upset me and I dug my heels in about it, and insisted on giving him to the humane society because they knew best how to find a good home.
And like, I basically said that to the humane society worker when I surrendered him, and they looked at me weird but didn't say anything to me against that idea.
And like, Ken was so fucking mad at me for that. Like hurt-angry. And he's been dead since 2019 but the last few months I just like fucking get fixated on this particular situation with the puppy and the possibility that maybe I gave him REASONS to hate me and the issue wasn't that he he was an abuser but rather that I was a mean crazy bitch that was impossible to live with.
Which, objectively, I know that I would IMMEDIATELY dismiss as BS if someone else said it to me, even if that person had only gone through a 10th of the shit he did, but guess what??? My brain hates me and my emotions are never ever Valid even if everyone else's are!
And ALSO, like, I know at least some of the reasons why I was resistant to give the puppy to his friend were like... Not based on nothing. I was at the hospital they worked at when I had my spinal surgeries and just... Terrible traumatic experience. I got an infection in my incision bc the nurse spilled a bed pan on it (and the wound care for that was probably the most painful thing I've ever experienced) and I remember listening to a baby down the hallway SCREAMING for what seemed like FOREVER bc the nurse couldn't get a vein.
And like if you have never heard a little baby SCREAMING in pain just be happy that you haven't.
And like ALSO Ken shockingly was not a good judge of character, and I can only remember meeting a couple friends of his that weren't Awful... Like the first time I heard the n-slur out loud was from one of his friends and also a couple years before Ken died one of his friends tried to murder -suicide him by grabbing the steering wheel while Ken was driving. Crashed the car so hard that it was totaled.
But yeah. Just gotten fixated lately (actually, I am self aware, whenever I'm PMSing) that
1.) I was a Bad Kid actually (I am Aware that even a Bad Kid did not deserve all of that) and that I gave him Valid Reasons to hate me.
2.) That I Hurt and Upset what MIGHT have been a Nice Lady with a Nice Kid by refusing to give him the puppy, and in the process cheated him out of a Nice Home.
3.) That the puppy might have, for some reason, been euthanized rather than adopted out. I know this is unlikely, he was a healthy ten week old puppy that at least seemed to be purebred and very adoptable... But like shelters struggle so much to have room.
Anyway, that was my entirely too long vent post... I'm going to go play Ark now.
* She's full-on Qanon now and abandoned her children, one of which was still a minor and the other had multiple kids and a drug problem, to go live in a desert compound out west.

Draft but I thought I'd post this before season two comes out and rots my brain even more. Also this was made with a sort've "everything's figured out and everything's fine" sort of vibe in mind so 🤷
My friend and I somehow got onto the topic of what animals the crew members would adopt if they could but it ended up just being us planning a DogDad!Izzy AU
I drew things for it
We are ignoring any historical shit on the breed we chose bc we think it's a perfect fit so yk
Made excuses for why Ed would break his no pets policy
Made excuses for why Izzy would break the no pets policy
The dog's name is Mutt bc that's all Izzy calls him and by the time the crew found out and wanted to try calling him different names, the dog was kinda attached to the name Mutt so..
He's a rottweiler/lab mix (for now). For historical sake, if you want, we can just say a rottie mix. Labs weren't bred til the 1800s according to a very shallow google search.
Doodles!!
Tumblr media
Comic!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Notes!! Headcanons!! Whatever have you!!
Izzy didn't plan on asking Ed to keep him, or keeping him at all actually. Mutt followed him, and probably snuck aboard. We thought it'd be funny if Stede and Olu found him since they probably wouldn't know about the whole "no pets policy" thing Ed has. They bring him to Ed and are like "hey look" and Ed's like "wtf, get him off the ship" but somehow, Mutt runs off, finds Izzy and vavoom or something.
Loving the idea that Ed would be convinced that Mutt is a pure bred killer, which is why he allowed him to stay, only to watch him smother some of the crew with kisses and cuddle every fucking day
Izzy and Ed both are literally perfect for the "dad who said no then became the dog's best friend" thing just thought I'd point that out
Wee John or someone sewing him up a bandana so he "looks like a scary pirate dog" <3
Frenchie is excited bc dogs chase cats away, but Mutt just makes friends with other animals so..
The only one who's able to actually ignore the puppy eyes tactic is Buttons. It just feels correct. Izzy and Ed almost can. Almost.
Mutt has to wait outside Jackie's bar when they're there. One of the crew always stays with him.
Really liking the idea of "dog" being a negative term from Izzy whilst "mutt" is somehow more positive so the name wasn't bad in his eyes
Normally sleeps besides Izzy's bed, since Izzy was the first one he got attached to and kinda the whole point of this AU of sorts, but sometimes he sleeps with the crew or Stede. Izzy won't let him stay with Ed alone quite yet, juuuust in case.
Izzy lets him sleep on the end of his bed, most of the crew lets him sleep curled up with them, and Stede doesn't like to let him sleep in his bed for fear of fleas and dirt and etc etc, but also there's no way in hell that man can say no to puppy eyes (I mean look at s1 Ed)
Izzy (maybe partnered up with Stede) tries to train Mutt well, but unfortunately Frenchie and Roach like to "untrain" him in a way, or train him in ways that aren't so Izzy-approved.
Whilst Stede reads to the crew, Izzy reads/tells stories to Mutt.
Roach learning to make dog-healthy treats for him!
It takes a while for Mutt and Ed to warm up to each other but once they do, they're homies. Ed still treats him like he can be a beast but learns not to push anything. "Go fucking kill that crab over there and I'll have Roach make you something real special." "No? Alright fine. No treat for you. Just regular food..maybe a singular treat for your effort."
Lucius turning Mutt into a little model, Wee John and them making him different little clothes to wear for said modelling, and somehow they convince Izzy to sit long enough to be sketched with him once and probably only once. Fang likes to sit and hold him whilst being doodled.
Jim and Mutt having little chats after raids and stuff. "Captain says your a born killer. Same." Mutt can't answer but they know he's listening as much as he can.
That said, Mutt is 100% most of them's personal therapist. He doesn't understand human problems nor has the ability to give them advice, but it's nice to talk about things anyway. My friend is a massive Stede fan so ofc they had to offer up Stede crying but hugging Mutt so it ends up being a good kinda cry. And honestly yeah I dig it.
Izzy's 100% worried that the "no pets policy" is gonna suddenly come back and likes it best when Mutt stays with him bc of it. This is a feel good AU, obviously, but angstwise, Mutt could totally be used against Izzy and the crew.
Fang definitely teared up finding out Mutt was staying, but got attached immediately and 100% wants to help Izzy protect Mutt.
For some reason, Stede gives off "has a pretty bad dog hair allergy, would hug a dog anyway" vibes, so that's something we like to joke about. "Your face is a bit puffy there, Bonnet." "Oh yeah, I'm terribly allergic to canines." "You what?" "I said I'm terribl-" "Get your face out of his fucking fur you absolute twat!"
Mutt likes to roll in mud when on land and some of the crew probably think "why not join him" every single time. Who? Idk. But some of them.
Mutt joining in on the fuckeries. Somehow.
The Swede singing and Mutt howling with him.
Frenchie singing and Mutt howling with him.
Izzy yelling at someone and Mutt barking/growing with him.
For the most part Mutt is an absolute sweetheart, but Izzy is his dad, and he's a fast learner. 100% acts all vicious whenever Izzy's feeling aggressive (but it's mostly an act and he just kinda idly stands by Izzy like "yeah I'm tough shit too" then goes back to acting like a puppy the moment Izzy shuts up).
Okay that's all for now, good night, AND SEE YAH WHEN SEASON TWO AIRS!

The Joys of Owning a Rottweiler Puppy
Tumblr media
The Rottweiler is an impressive breed that has a strong physical presence, loyalty, and intelligence. Rottweiler puppies make for wonderful companions and can provide years of loyalty and love to any family. If you are looking for a loyal pet that will stick by your side through thick and thin, a Rottweiler puppy may be your perfect fit.
The Rottweiler is a hardy breed that originated in the Roman Empire and was used to herd cattle and pull carts. Rottweilers are alert and loyal guard dogs and are often used by police and military. They are strong and have a willingness to please, which makes them an ideal pet for inexperienced owners rottweiler puppies for sale Craigslist.
Rottweiler puppies require a great deal of care, especially during their first year of life. During this time, socialization and obedience training should be a priority. It is important to find an experienced trainer who can help to reinforce positive behaviors and discourage negative ones. Proper socialization is important to help the puppy learn how to properly interact with humans and other animals.
It is important to keep your Rottweiler puppy well-groomed. This breed has short hair that needs to be brushed and groomed regularly. Occasional bathing is also important, and the ears should be checked for signs of infection. Proper dental care is also a must, as Rottweilers are prone to gum disease.
When it comes to exercise, Rottweiler puppies require a good amount of daily activity. Regular walks, playtime, and other activities are essential for them to remain mentally and physically healthy. A Rottweiler puppy should never be left unsupervised, as they can be destructive if bored.
Rottweilers are extremely loyal and loving dogs, and with proper training and socialization they can be great companions. They do require a great deal of daily attention, but the rewards are sure to be great. When looking for a new pet, consider a Rottweiler puppy - you won't regret it!

Understanding Parvovirus in Pets: Symptoms, Prevention, and Treatment
Tumblr media
Parvovirus, commonly known as Parvo, is a highly contagious viral infection that affects many pets, especially young puppies and kittens. This article delves into the major symptoms, cures, prevention methods, and essential information on this dangerous virus. If you want to ensure your pet's health and safety, learning about Parvo and its impact on different animals is essential.
Visit Vetic to access expert veterinary care, diagnostics, and prevention tips for keeping your pet healthy.
What is Parvovirus (Parvo)?
Parvovirus is a life-threatening disease affecting mainly dogs, cats, and other mammals. Known for its rapid spread and high fatality rates, Parvo attacks the gastrointestinal and immune systems. Parvovirus is resilient, meaning it can survive in the environment for long periods and can be challenging to eradicate.
1. Pets Susceptible to Parvovirus
While Parvovirus is often associated with dogs, other animals can also contract it, though dogs are among the most vulnerable.
a. Dogs
Puppies and unvaccinated dogs are most at risk of Parvo infection. Breeds with higher susceptibility include Rottweilers, Dobermans, and American Pit Bull Terriers.
b. Cats
Cats can contract a similar virus, often referred to as feline panleukopenia. Although it's not the same virus as canine parvovirus, its symptoms and severity are similar.
c. Other Mammals
While uncommon, other mammals such as foxes and raccoons can also carry and spread Parvo.
2. Symptoms of Parvovirus in Pets
Recognizing the signs of Parvo early is crucial for effective treatment. Here are the most common symptoms seen in infected pets:
Lethargy: A noticeable decrease in energy and enthusiasm.
Vomiting: Persistent vomiting is a red flag, especially in puppies.
Loss of Appetite: Infected pets often lose interest in food.
Fever: An elevated temperature may indicate infection.
Bloody Diarrhea: One of the hallmarks of Parvo is severe, often bloody, diarrhea.
Dehydration: Constant vomiting and diarrhea can lead to rapid dehydration, putting the pet at even greater risk.
If you notice any of these symptoms, contact a veterinarian immediately. Parvovirus progresses quickly, and time is of the essence.
3. How Does Parvovirus Spread?
Parvo spreads primarily through contact with infected animals or contaminated objects, such as food bowls, bedding, and even human clothing. The virus is particularly resilient and can survive on surfaces and in soil for months. As a result, the risk of infection remains high if these areas are not properly disinfected.
4. Treatment Options for Parvovirus
Early intervention is key to improving an infected pet's chances of survival. Treatment for Parvo focuses on supporting the pet’s immune system and managing symptoms:
Hydration Therapy: Dehydration is a serious risk; intravenous fluids are usually administered to restore hydration.
Antiemetics: These medications help control vomiting and nausea.
Antibiotics: To prevent secondary bacterial infections, antibiotics may be prescribed.
Nutrition Support: Feeding support, often through an IV, ensures the pet maintains necessary nutrients.
Hospitalization: Most pets with Parvo require intensive care, making hospitalization essential for their recovery.
Since no specific antiviral exists for Parvo, supportive care is the best available treatment. Seek immediate help from a professional, like those available at Vetic, to maximize recovery chances.
5. Preventing Parvovirus in Pets
Prevention is far better than treatment, especially for Parvovirus. Here’s how to keep your pet safe:
a. Vaccination
Vaccination is the most effective way to prevent Parvo. Make sure your pet, particularly young puppies and kittens, receives their vaccinations on schedule.
b. Hygiene
Regularly disinfect your pet's toys, food bowls, and living areas. Be cautious when taking young, unvaccinated pets to public places.
c. Avoid Contact with Infected Animals
Keep your pet away from animals suspected of carrying Parvo. This applies to pet parks, shelters, and areas with high dog traffic.
d. Regular Vet Check-ups
Routine vet visits are essential to keeping your pet in good health. Vets can provide booster vaccinations and monitor for any early signs of illness. Visit Vetic for more information and to schedule an appointment.
6. The Importance of Parvovirus Awareness
Parvovirus remains a serious threat to pets around the world. Raising awareness about this disease and taking preventive steps can save lives. Ensuring your pet is vaccinated, keeping a clean environment, and seeking immediate care if symptoms appear are critical measures.
7. Why Choose Vetic for Parvovirus Prevention and Treatment?

ykw idc anymore i need to rant
we got a return dog at the shelter today. Its upsetting, but not as uncommon as people would hope/think. but this one in particular irked me. see, a few months ago we had a puppy in our care, Randall. Randall was 4 months old, wiggly, happy, loved to give chin kisses (the only part he could reach, even when you were sitting down) and was your classic exuberant puppy. Note that Randall, like many of our dogs, and almost all of our puppies, is a pitbull mix. Today, i saw Randall back in our kennels. I didn't even recognize him at first. He was skin and bones, with freshly docked ears and tail, standing at the door with his head hanging as he gave me sad puppy eyes. It wasn't until I saw him outside, where he greeted me with that familiar "everyone-is-my-friend" wiggles as another volunteer called his name that I made the connection.
They made Randall, who has never met a person he didnt love, into a "scary" dog. I'm not going to argue with people on cropping/docking but this made me livid. This dog in no way needed a cosmetic surgery. And best be sure that's what it was. There was no excuse of "ear infections" (he was a healthy puppy, and they didnt even have him long enough to develop such a problem) or "happy tail" (We have a dog with happy tail! and Randall never needed what she does!) Just the idea that these people made him undergo a surgery that he didnt even NEED as a 5 month old puppy all just to what? make them feel tougher? subscribe to a look? That you made an animal, who relies on you for pretty much everything, to recover from a procedure they didnt need for your own ego - and ON TOP OF THAT TO GET RID OF THE DOG NOT EVEN 2 MONTHS LATER - is sickening.
Because of one person's selfish actions Randall will face more stereotyping and more hurdles that were already hard enough to face just for being a bully mix. It will be harder for him to be adopted, and he, and any future adopter, will face stigma for how he looks, no matter how friendly or well behaved he may be. Pitbulls already don't get a fraction the grace given to other breeds, even the other "scary" ones like the Rottweiler or the Doberman, and it makes me so heartbroken that someone looked at a dog like Randall, and saw nothing more than a potential status symbol.

Where To Buy Rottweiler Puppies
Rottweilers are known for their loyalty, intelligence, and protective nature, making them a popular choice for families and individuals alike. However, finding a healthy Rottweiler puppy requires diligence and careful consideration. This guide will help you navigate the process of purchasing a Rottweiler puppy from reputable sources.
Tumblr media
Reputable Breeders: The Best Source for Healthy Puppies
When it comes to buying a Rottweiler, a responsible breeder is often the best choice. A reputable breeder focuses on the health and temperament of their puppies, making them an ideal choice for those searching for Rottweiler puppies for sale. Here’s what to look for:
Health Checks: Ensure the breeder conducts regular health screenings for genetic disorders common in Rottweilers.
Lineage Information: Ask for documentation regarding the puppy's lineage, which helps predict health and behavior.
Socialization Practices: A good breeder will expose their puppies to various environments, sounds, and people to ensure they are well-adjusted.
Certified Breed-Specific Organizations
Organizations like the American Kennel Club (AKC) provide listings of registered breeders. Buying from breeders affiliated with such organizations ensures that they adhere to specific breeding standards and ethical practices.
Rescue Shelters: Adopt Rottweilers
Adopting a Rottweiler is a rewarding experience. Many dogs in rescue shelters are in need of a loving home, and you might even find Rottweiler puppies available for adoption. Look for local breed-specific rescues or general dog shelters in your area. They often have Rottweilers of all ages looking for families.
Pet Stores and Online Marketplaces: What to Avoid
While it may be tempting to buy a puppy from a pet store or online marketplace, it's essential to be cautious. Many of these outlets source puppies from puppy mills, which prioritize profit over the well-being of the animals. Here are some red flags to watch for:
Lack of health documentation.
Puppies that appear sick or under-socialized.
No clear information about the puppy's lineage.
Factors to Consider Before Buying a Rottweiler Puppy
Before making a purchase, it’s crucial to consider the costs and commitment involved in owning a Rottweiler. This includes:
Initial Costs: The price of the puppy, vaccinations, and initial supplies.
Ongoing Expenses: Food, grooming, routine vet visits, and potential training.
Long-term Commitment: Rottweilers require consistent training, exercise, and socialization, making them a long-term responsibility.
Keeping Your Home Clean with a New Puppy
Bringing a Rottweiler puppy home means being prepared for some messes. To maintain a clean and healthy environment, consider using a pet floor cleaner that is safe and effective. Products like Zap Kennel Wash can help keep your floors spotless and odor-free, ensuring a pleasant living space for both you and your new puppy.
Conclusion
Finding a Rottweiler puppy requires research and patience, but choosing a trusted source is crucial for ensuring a healthy and well-adjusted pet. By considering the options available—reputable breeders, rescue shelters, and certified organizations—you can find the perfect addition to your family. Remember to prepare your home and invest in proper cleaning solutions to create a welcoming environment for your new furry friend.

introduction post!!!!
I'm Phyllis (She/Her) a 25 year old living in Florida. I've been a dog trainer for about 2 years now. I have a full time job working at a dog boarding facility, I like to read, write, train, and spend time with family. welcome!
Here are my 2 dogs:
Tumblr media
Genesis is my 2 year old Belgian Malinois. I had gotten her from a lady who was in need of rehoming her and I took her in and started training her to be my service dog. Now she’s a medical and psychiatric service dog for my disabilities and I’ve had her for 7 months now.
Tumblr media
Miracle is my Rottweiler, I also gotten her from a family who was in need of rehoming her and when I gotten her she ended up having a big gash in her neck that was missing fur and the side of her shoulder was missing fur too they said that it was from her litter mates (siblings) but the is looked like they were using her as a bait dog... I’ve only had her for almost a month now and we’re slowly working on commands, she was very skinny like nobody was feeding her and her nails were extremely long too. Now she’s a healthy happy puppy with fur growing back and gaining weight.
